Do Women Want Rich Men?
Even biology backs up the idea that males of all species were made to provide for their families. Men want to feel needed and wanted by women because it's part of what it means to be a man.
History and literature show that single women like wealthy men more than poor men. When women couldn't make their own money, which has been the case for most of human history, they would "marry for money" to make ends meet.
For a long time, a woman could only move up in society by getting married.
This is called "hypergamy" in social science. It is the female evolutionary instinct to prefer male sex partners who are from a higher socioeconomic class, have more money, or have more resources.
But with gender equality movements happening all over the world, it's easy to think that hypergamy is already over and probably a thing of the past.
Women are getting higher degrees than men and making their own money. Women have so many rights now that they can even decide not to choose a partner and be their own man.
Are men still important to women?
Yes, that's the answer. Women still want and need men. And hypergamy, which, as it turns out, is still around. Even though women can earn as much as men and go to the same schools, they still want rich men.
The Institute of Family Studies says that even smart women would rather live with a man who makes more money than them, even if the man of the house is not as smart as the woman.
Women have always been and will always be looking for a partner who can help them make more money and get ahead in life.
Does this mean women are natural gold diggers?
Well, if you only look at the surface level of this hypergamy thing, you could technically come to the conclusion that women are indeed gold diggers.
But you also need to understand a woman's maternal instinct as well as you would understand a man's. Women want to feel safe and secure. Because of this, having money or even the ability to make money is a big draw for women to men who have it.
They would be very willing to look past the fact that they didn't get as good of an education as long as they knew you could take care of them and give them financial security.
What would a man have to do to get a girl?
One thing to keep in mind is that even with hypergamy, women still have a higher value on the dating market than men because they have more chances to mate. Women will always be more interested in guys who have a bigger chance of making money and are also willing to share what they have.
To put it simply, women always try to "marry up," while men usually try to "marry across and down."
Men are regaining control.
In this day and age, when society says that men and women should have the same rights and benefits, it's hard for men to be richer in their own environment.
But not only women are changing in this time. Men have also found a way to take advantage of the natural instincts of women.
Men have gone to great lengths to find women who will make them feel needed and wanted. Theoretically, this is why most men have gone outside of their countries to find women who are not necessarily better than them in terms of wealth, education, and opportunities, but who can feel safe with what they have to offer.
Even though having money in the bank can be a big help, it shouldn't be a guarantee that a man will get a woman. It is not the only thing that can change. Women might have different ideas about what stability, security, and safety mean.
Let's say a woman paid attention to you because of your money and how you make money. However, in general, a woman will stay with a man she loves and cares about if she sees a lot of potential in building a stable and secure relationship with him.
Overall, women do care about how much money a man has, but it's not the only thing they look for in a partner.
